Lavender Pit

The Lavender Pit is 300 acres of a former open-pit copper mine that operated from 1950 to 1974. It is named for Phelps Dodge Corporation General Manager Harrison M. Lavender.

On AZ-80, between Old Bisbee and the Lowell neighborhood, is a scenic overlook area where visitors can park, read information placards, and view the Lavender Pit.
