The 4th of July Drilling & Mucking Competition begins at noon in Old Bisbee on Brewery Avenue, also known as “the Gulch.”
BISBEE TRIVIA: “Iron Man” represents Bisbee’s hand-drilling past. Local artist R. Phillips Sanderson created the Iron Man Statue in 1935 as a tribute. The statue of a miner holds a single jack and steel mounted atop the block of Gunnison granite where the contest drilling happened.
